Over 10,000 convicts have been released on parole for mobilization into the Armed Forces of Ukraine
Over 10,000 convicts have been conditionally released early from prison for mobilization into the Defence Forces of Ukraine.
This was reported by the Department for the Execution of Criminal Punishments of the Ministry of Justice.
«As of 01.09.2025, more than 10,100 individuals have been conditionally released early under Article 811 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine and transferred to units of the National Guard of Ukraine for delivery to territorial recruitment and social support centers,» the response states.

The Ministry of Justice reminded that convicts may be conditionally released early to serve in the military under contract during mobilization and/or martial law.
However, not all convicts can be released from serving their sentences for mobilization. Specifically, individuals convicted of intentional murder of two or more persons (or for murder committed with extreme cruelty, or combined with sexual violence), as well as those convicted of particularly serious corruption-related criminal offenses, will not be allowed to join the army.
