HACC confiscated property of former Interior Minister Zakharchenko worth over 400 million hryvnias

The High Anti-Corruption Court has granted the lawsuit of the Ministry of Justice regarding the application of sanctions against former Minister of Internal Affairs Vitaliy Zakharchenko. He headed the agency from 2011 to 2014.

This was reported by the State Bureau of Investigation.

Six real estate objects were confiscated from Zakharchenko, including two apartments in Kyiv, corporate rights, and funds in bank accounts. The total value of the confiscated property exceeds 400 million hryvnias.

The sanctions were applied as a measure aimed at preventing the use of assets by individuals who pose a threat to Ukraine’s national security.

Vitaliy Zakharchenko is a suspect in several criminal cases, many of which have already been transferred to court. In particular, he is charged with high treason, creating a criminal organization, organizing serious crimes against participants of the Revolution of Dignity, and laundering income obtained through criminal means.

Within the framework of these cases, SBI investigators have seized the ex-minister’s property worth 1.4 billion hryvnias. Zakharchenko has been placed on the international wanted list and has been hiding in the territory of the Russian Federation since 2014.
