Ukrainian forces are holding back the Russian advance in Kupyansk, – Trehubov
The Defence Forces of Ukraine struck Russian forces in Kupyansk, Kharkiv region, which has slowed down their advance.
This was stated by Viktor Trehubov, the head of the communications department of the Joint Forces grouping, during the broadcast of the United News telethon on Sunday, November 2.
He noted that the situation in the Kupyansk direction remains challenging, but Ukrainian forces are holding back the occupiers and preventing them from advancing into the city center.
«Moreover, there is reason for cautious optimism, as even in the northern areas where they tried to concentrate their forces, they are now in a bit of trouble. Several accurate and heavy strikes were inflicted on them, as a result of which their advance there has currently slowed down,» — Trehubov said.
According to him, the Russians are now trying more to bypass the city rather than directly break through from the northern areas into the center, as they did before.
In addition, Trehubov noted that there is no encirclement of Ukrainian troops in the city.
«There is nothing to confirm the words of the Russian leader Putin about an alleged encirclement. If anyone is going to be encircled there, it will definitely not be the Ukrainian forces,» — Trehubov added.
