The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine accused Pope Francis of supporting Russian imperialist ideas among the youth of the aggressor country.

This was stated by the spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Oleh Nikolenko, on Facebook.

«It is precisely such imperialist propaganda, «spiritual bonds» and the «need» to save the «great Mother Russia» that the Kremlin uses to justify the killing of thousands of Ukrainians and the destruction of hundreds of Ukrainian cities and villages», - he emphasized.

According to Nikolenko, it is very unfortunate that Russian imperialist ideas, which are actually the cause of Russia’s chronic aggressiveness, are consciously or unconsciously voiced from the lips of the Pope, whose mission is to open the eyes of Russian youth to the destructive course of the current Russian leadership.

As reported, in his speech to Russian Catholic youth on August 25, the Pope urged them not to renounce their imperial heritage.

«You are the descendants of great Russia: the great Russia of saints, leaders, the great Russia of Peter I, Catherine II, that empire – of great, educated, great culture and great humanity», - the pontiff stated at that time.
