The number of millionaires in Ukraine increased during the great war
In the first year of full-scale war, the number of millionaires in Ukraine increased. According to the results of the declaration of income received in 2022, there were 16% more such citizens than in 2021, or 2,863 people.
This was announced by the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Finance, Taxation and Customs Policy Danylo Hetmantsev ("Servant of the People"). He noted that a total of 12,374 people filed declarations with income exceeding UAH 1 million.
“Tax obligations for payment to the budget by such millionaires are determined in the amount of UAH 2.756 billion. For military duties - UAH 526.5 million,” the statement says.
In general, the people’s deputy noted, based on the results of declaring income by individuals, in 2023, 4.539 billion UAH of personal income tax were paid, and military duty - 946.09 million UAH. Wherein:
- in 2023, Ukrainians filed 266 thousand declarations of property status and income;
- the amount of their declared income amounted to UAH 147.92 billion.
“A significant part of the declarations – 112 thousand – were filed in connection with the use of the right to a tax discount. The amount of personal income tax subject to refund from the budget is UAH 444.08 million,” Hetmantsev said.
How much do the main officials of Ukraine earn?
At the same time, according to data contained in the NAPC declaration register, Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmygal receives far from the highest salary in the government. Thus, the prime minister himself, according to his declaration, received about 75 thousand UAH monthly.
First Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Economy Yuliya Svyrydenko had an average salary of about 74.4 thousand UAH. So, in fact, she earned about the same as the head of government. Besides:
- Iryna Vereshchuk, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories, also earned an average of UAH 75,000;
- Vice Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration Olha Stefanishyna declared a salary of UAH 74.1 thousand per month;
- Deputy Prime Minister for Innovation, Development of Education, Science and Technology - Minister of Digital Transformation Mykhailo Fedorov declared a salary of UAH 80.7 thousand.
