Shooting of Ukrainian soldiers in Avdiivka: 110th Brigade explains why it did not evacuate the wounded
The Donbass prosecutor’s office is investigating the possible execution of six Ukrainian soldiers in Avdiivka. The Russians probably shot six captured Ukrainian soldiers at the "Zenit" position in Avdiivka. Due to injuries, the soldiers were unable to leave the encircled position . On February 17, Russian propagandists distributed a video with the bodies of Ukrainians thrown into the water. Several of them were recognized by their relatives.
In response to this, the 110th separate mechanized brigade named after Coronate General Mark Bezruchko wrote that several seriously wounded and dead military personnel could not be evacuated because the occupiers carried out a rapid and large-scale offensive, accompanied by bombing from aviation, artillery shelling and attacks.
The brigade decided to contact the coordination center and organizations that are negotiating with the Russian side on the exchange of prisoners in order to agree on assistance to seriously wounded unarmed Ukrainian soldiers, provided for under the international laws of war.
The Russian occupiers, as they write in the brigade, agreed to evacuate the wounded and provide assistance to them, and then exchange them. Therefore, the Ukrainian military received an order to save their lives.
The team learnt about what happened next from Russian public media. In a video released by the Russians from the captured "Zenit" position, relatives recognised Heorhiy Pavlov, Andriy Dubnytsky, and Ivan Zhytnyk as dead. According to the brigade, the enemy also shot Oleksandr Zinchuk and Mykola Savosik. Information about the sixth soldier is still being checked.
