“They were in an abandoned building and intended to go abroad. Currently, the investigation has established that the reason for the attack was that they were transporting live grenades. But how it actually happened will be investigated by the investigation,” said National Police spokeswoman Olena Berezhna .

As is known, the attackers were two servicemen - a father and a son. The father, according to Berezhna, was wounded by one of the law enforcement officers whom he and his son attacked.

“He received medical assistance. He is alive,” said a representative of the National Police.

Investigators, police officers and prosecutors are currently working with the suspects. Also, according to Berezhna, the involvement of the detainees in sabotage and reconnaissance groups is being verified.

“The reasons for their attack on police officers will be established by investigators later,” she added.
