The breakthrough of Russian occupation forces in Ocheretyno, Pokrovsk district, Donetsk region, revealed not only deficiencies in defence, but also deep problems in crisis management. DeepState analysts write about this in their report for April 24.

One of the key aspects identified by analysts is the incompetence of some speakers, who dispel confidence in the military-political leadership with their statements, since the visual presence of the enemy in Ocheretyno contradicts their words.

“Against the background of the visual presence of the enemy in the center of the village, (the statements - Ed.) look extremely false. And this is at a time when you can call the brigades or check the situational awareness system,” analysts say.

However, according to them, the problem is not limited to just false information. The issue is ignoring chronic problems in certain linear formations of the defense forces, which are placed in critical sectors of the front, DeepState is convinced.

In this context, analysts pay attention to the activities of the 115th separate motorized rifle brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. In their opinion, the leadership of this brigade is responsible for the collapse of the defense in the entire sector, which led to significant losses among the military personnel.

“The leadership of the 115th Mechanized Infantry Brigade is responsible for the collapse of the defense in the entire sector, allowing significant losses in the dead, wounded and missing. This is not a secret; there are enough recent publications on social networks with the search for relatives,” the DeepState message says.

At the same time, analysts emphasize that ordinary soldiers should not be punished for the lack of organization and interaction in the brigade, because they are already paying a high price - with their lives and health.

The British newspaper The Telegraph wrote on April 24 that Russia made a sudden breakthrough and captured about 8 km in the village of Ocheretyno. This breakthrough became possible due to an error in the rotation of the Ukrainian armed forces. It is reported that Moscow was able to capture Ocheretino after the retreat of the 47th Brigade. This brigade was formed for Ukraine’s summer counter-offensive last year and is equipped with modern weapons. She actively fought without a break for almost a year.

However, the redeployment of the 47th brigade was carried out in order to strengthen the defence of the city of Avdiivka. Over the weekend, the Ukrainian 115th Brigade was ordered to replace the 47th Brigade east of Ocheretyno. When the 47th Brigade’s division began to retreat, Russian troops immediately launched an attack and captured the defensive positions of the Ukrainian forces, establishing fire control over the surrounding area, British journalists wrote.

According to the evening report of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on 24 April, in the Avdiivka sector, the Defence Forces repelled 15 attacks in the areas of Ocheretyno, Novokalynove, Berdychi and Netaylove in Donetsk region, where the enemy, with the support of aviation, tried to force units out of their positions. The command did not report the capture of Ocheretyne. There has also been no response to reports from the command of the 115th Brigade.
