Doubtful construction on Baikove cemetery: the owner is the daughter of former Deputy Minister Prokopiv

The owner of a dubious construction project at the Baikove Cemetery in Kyiv is the daughter of former Deputy Energy Minister Khrystyna Prokopiv.

Earlier, the media managed to find out that in 2019, the Kyiv City Council decided to lease the land plot to Star Ideal Bud LLC for the operation and maintenance of the engineering structure at 10/6 Mykola Hrinchenko Street in the Holosiivskyi district of Kyiv.

In the register, this plot is listed as "land for industry, transport, communications, energy, defence and other purposes". According to the designated purpose of the plot, it can be assumed that a service station is planned to be built on the territory of the Baikove cemetery.

It has now become known that the reason for the lease of the land plot was that the company has a privately owned building of 123 square metres in this area, which is located underground. However, it is not actually there, but a drilling rig is operating there, drilling piles two metres from the graves. We can assume that in the case of a real reconstruction of the building, at least part of it should have been visible.

However, the contractors do not provide any documents and refuse to say who they work for. So far, the journalists have not been shown the facility’s passport or other documents.

Earlier, journalists recorded dubious construction work at the Baikove cemetery, where the ground was dug up next to the graves. Later, it turned out that at the beginning of the construction, part of the fence that delimited the cemetery was demolished, and construction equipment was brought in.
