Ukrainians should prepare for extended power outages during the winter months. There may be no light for most of the day.

This opinion was expressed by YASNO General Director Serhiy Kovalenko during the telethon.

According to him, in winter, electricity consumption increases significantly. In this regard, the deficit in the energy system may reach 35%.

“If you then take away the critical infrastructure, if you then do everything, we can really sit for 6-7 hours with the light on. But this needs to be discussed sometime in August, because it will be clear what our import capabilities are and how much we will have time to restore,” he said.

Kovalenko added that in any case, consumers in Ukraine, both domestic and industrial, need to prepare for a shortage of light. We are talking about purchasing alternative power sources.

“Starting from batteries, batteries of different formats, and ending with the generation that can be. If possible, solar panels, inverters, batteries, generators, etc.,” he concluded.
