Repairs at some nuclear power units will be completed and the number of facilities with guaranteed power supply will decrease.

This was reported by the State Inspectorate for Energy Supervision.

“To ensure the reliability of the operation of nuclear power plants, mandatory scheduled repairs at power units continue. It is worth noting that nuclear generation is the basis that provides more than 50 percent of consumer needs even after the occupation of the Zaporizhzhya NPP,” explained the head of the State Energy Supervision Authority Ruslan Slobodyan.

Repairs and the development of decentralized generation are now ongoing to add capacity to the energy system and cover the deficit.

“The energy workers are doing everything possible to complete the work as quickly as possible. At the same time, a somewhat difficult situation with the supply of electricity is expected in the next month and a half. We expect relief in August,” he said.

Update the list of critical infrastructure facilities with guaranteed power supply. This process should be completed on July 1.

“Currently, in many areas, dozens, and in some areas - more than a hundred consumers have already been excluded from the list of objects with guaranteed power supply. The logic of the process is that it is important to find a balance and protect critical infrastructure from outages, while at the same time not creating excessive burden on others,” explained Slobodyan.

It is proposed to divide the list of critical infrastructure facilities with guaranteed power supply by season - into summer and winter.

“Now the list includes, among other things, objects that are extremely important during the heating season, but do not work in the summer. Therefore, now it is advisable to exclude them from the list, and with the onset of cold weather, return them to it. This is due to the fact that near such objects there are power lines “Many other consumers are connected and may be involved in blackout schedules,” noted the head of Gosenergonadzor.

Where it is not possible to power objects on different power lines, the possibility of manual switching is considered in the case of outage schedules.

“Unfortunately, today not all of our networks are fully automated and not all parts of the network can be turned off and on remotely. Sometimes you need to go to some distribution point and turn off part of the line there. This, of course, requires additional efforts of distribution system operators," Slobodyan said.
