Ex-official of the Southern KEV embezzled almost UAH 1 million on the construction of a military facility

SBI officers served a notice of suspicion to a former official of the Southern Territorial Housing and Maintenance Department of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine, who misappropriated almost UAH 1 million from the state budget.

This was reported by the press service of the State Bureau of Investigation.

According to the investigation, the official entered into an agreement with a private enterprise to build a water pipeline for one of the armed formations in the region. The cost of the work amounted to about one million hryvnia.

“However, the construction remained only on paper, and the colonel and the entrepreneur divided the money among themselves. Due to such fraud, the budget suffered damage of almost a million hryvnia,” the report says.

Currently, a former KEV official has been informed of suspicion of negligent attitude towards military service (Part 3 of Article 425 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

The sanction of the article provides for punishment in the form of imprisonment for a term of up to 7 years.

The head of the enterprise is accused of abuse and forgery (part 2 of article 364-1, part 2 of article 366 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

The investigation continues and other facts of illegal activity are being established.
