The operation of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Kursk region of Russia has been going on for more than a week. During this time, Russian troops have not only failed to dislodge Ukrainian forces from their own territory, but, as the Ukrainian command claims, the Armed Forces of Ukraine, on the contrary, are expanding their control in the region.

On August 15, Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi reported that Ukraine controls 1,150 square kilometers of territory in this region and 82 populated areas.

This situation is unique for Ukraine. This is the first time its troops have entered the territory of another state without permission.

Moreover, they had already created the first organ of power there – a military commandant’s office, headed by Major General Eduard Moskalyov.
