"Gazprom" announced "the expansion of multifaceted strategic partnership" with the Azerbaijani company SOCAR.

This was reported by the press service of "Gazprom".

The Russian monopolist announced the achievement of an agreement "to expand multifaceted strategic partnership" with the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan, SOCAR.

This statement was made against the backdrop of Russian President Vladimir Putin’s visit to Azerbaijan. The Russian delegation included, in particular, representatives of "Gazprom", headed by the chairman of the company, Aleksey Miller.

According to Miller, as quoted by the press service of "Gazprom", this includes the "North-South" project and the signing in September 2024 of a comprehensive scientific and technical cooperation program between Russian and Azerbaijani companies.

Amidst these events, some Ukrainians are calling for a boycott of the Azerbaijani state company’s SOCAR gas stations. Social media users write about this on their Facebook pages.

"There are many gas stations of this company in Ukraine. I call on our compatriots to boycott this network!!! I also urge Ukrainian businesses to sever all partnership relations with this company!!!", – wrote military and civic activist Oleh Symoroz.

Journalist and human rights activist Kostyantyn Ryeutskyi reacted to the news by saying: "Stop by to donate," noting in comments that the start of cooperation between Russia and Azerbaijan was not unexpected.

The host of "Radio NV," Dmytro Tuzov, also announced a boycott of SOCAR gas stations in Ukraine.

"Well, for now (until clarifying true motives), I bypass SOCAR gas stations. I understand that the war constrains our living space and imposes serious limitations on many usual things and contacts. But after this coziness, I simply cannot leave a single penny for the Azerbaijani fuel operator. At least not until clarifying the real motives of President Ilham Aliyev, who hosted the Russian killer Vladimir Putin as... a brother or a dear guest. I understand that "the East is a delicate matter." And perhaps behind these embraces, there is a plan to counter Russia’s expansion in the region. Maybe. We’ll see. But for now, no, not a single penny for Azerbaijani SOCAR gas stations. I’ll manage without them. And I’ll watch the real actions of Aliyev and his country," – he wrote.

As of now, there are no announcements on SOCAR’s website about agreements with "Gazprom".
