Russians attacked the Armed Forces of Ukraine with a column of BMPs near Kursk and got stuck in their own fortifications
The soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine successfully repelled an attack by a column of armored vehicles of the Russian Armed Forces, which took place on the eastern flank near Sudzha in the Kursk region of the Russian Federation. During the attack, the enemy lost a BMP "Mikhey," which fell into a Russian trap.
Units of the Russian Armed Forces attempted to attack Ukrainian positions near the village of Plekhovo in the Kursk region. The attack failed as the Russians could not overcome the fortifications they themselves had built. Details of the battles near Kursk were shared by Forbes.
The portal drew attention to a video that military journalist Yuriy Butusov published in Telegram on the evening of September 29. The publication notes that the fighters of the 129th Territorial Defence Brigade repelled an attack by a dozen armored vehicles of the Russian Armed Forces. Thanks to the work of artillery and FPV drones, the fighters blew up Russian BMPs and tanks, destroying the enemy’s personnel. In particular, a BMP "Mikhey" with a mine trawl and anti-drone protection was destroyed, the journalist explained. Meanwhile, Forbes emphasized that the Russians failed because they encountered their own anti-tank ditches and fortifications, which the Ukrainians effectively used against the former owners.
In Butusov’s video, a column of Russian armored vehicles can be seen starting the attack, moving straight across the field. Additionally, the Russian Armed Forces tried to storm Ukrainian positions, weaving between concrete pyramids, which complicated the movement of the BMPs.
A series of subsequent footage shows Ukrainian artillery working on the Russian Armed Forces’ armored vehicles: several BMPs exploded before reaching Ukrainian positions. At the same time, the BMP "Mikhey" could not overcome the anti-tank ditch that the Russians had once dug to protect against a potential Ukrainian breakthrough. At one point, FPV drones hit it, and it caught fire.

The authors of the Forbes article noted that the Ukrainian Armed Forces successfully repelled the attack of the Russian Armed Forces by using the enemy’s fortifications. On satellite images, OSINT analyst with the nickname IMI(M) pointed out that the Russians built an effective circular defense (360 degrees), dug anti-tank ditches, and installed rows of pyramids. When the Ukrainians occupied the area, they took advantage of the ready fortifications. The situation became "ironic," as the Russian Armed Forces could not break through their own defense structures, the journalists concluded. As a result, the counterattack near Plekhovo, which took place two weeks ago (approximately September 15), ended in failure, and the Russians retreated, losing equipment and manpower.
"Anti-tank traps and circular infantry ditches became the property of Ukraine. It is a credit to the Russian engineers who built the defense near Plekhovo that this defense worked as intended. The fact that their comrades built effective anti-tank traps undoubtedly pleases the Russian troops, who ultimately fell into the trap," concluded Forbes.
