For mobilized Ukrainians, it is planned to increase the duration of the basic military training program in training centers to 1.5 months.

This was reported by Ukrinform, referencing a briefing by Colonel Yevhen Mezhevikin, Deputy Chief of the Main Directorate of Doctrines and Training of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

"The expansion of the training system is planned primarily at the stage of basic military training (BMT), professional training, professional training of enlisted ranks, training of instructors and sergeants. In particular, changes in approaches to collective training are envisaged. We plan to change formats and approaches to training servicemen, increase the responsibility of the command vertical for personnel training, and transform the instructor training system. One of the crucial steps for improving training and enhancing the quality of education for our servicemen in training centers is to increase the duration of basic military training. For this purpose, a basic military training program lasting one and a half months has been developed and approved," Mezhevikin reported.

According to him, by the decision of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi, a pilot project of extending the training to one and a half months has already started at four key training centers, involving about 500 servicemen.

The report states that the updated BMT program includes the basics of UAV application and trench electronic warfare, and the use of electronic intelligence equipment. It also aims to improve the level of tactical fire training, reconnaissance and sabotage activities, and survival skills in the field," Mezhevikin emphasized.

Special attention is given to seasonal training, such as survival in cold weather, which is crucial for servicemen of various levels and specialties during tasks in autumn, winter, and spring," Mezhevikin stressed.

According to him, the basic training of Ukrainians will be conducted exclusively in training centers. Incentives are planned for the best cadets. For example, the best serviceman will have the opportunity to choose the place of future service.

"Upon completion of the pilot project in December of the current year, the results will be analyzed, taking into account the duration of training, and proposals for further implementation in basic general military training will be provided. Changes are also expected in professional training, reformatting the specialist training program, excluding outdated subjects and those duplicating the BMT content, with the mandatory inclusion of combat experience. In particular, it is planned to add training elements confirmed by positive combat experience and effective use of weapons and military equipment, study of tactical medicine, and norms of international humanitarian law," Mezhevikin reported.

It is noted that there are plans to improve the situation with the teaching staff in training centers, replacing officer teaching positions with sergeant positions.

At the same time, the timelines and schedule for implementing the program will be determined by the General Staff based on the results of the pilot project.
