In the Zhytomyr region, officials from "Ukrtransnafta" will be tried for the embezzlement of millions during repairs

This was reported by the Zhytomyr Regional Prosecutor’s Office.

According to the investigation, Kyiv companies committed to reconstructing the main oil pipeline station in the Zvyahelskyi district of Zhytomyr region between 2018-2021.

"Almost 130 million UAH was allocated from the budget for the repair work, which was carried out to strengthen anti-sabotage and anti-terrorist protection. However, the contractors implemented a fraudulent scheme that allowed them to embezzle budgetary funds in the amount of 9.3 million UAH," the report said.

In particular, as noted by the prosecutor’s office, the purchased building materials were processed through a series of fictitious "transit" operations. Controlled enterprises with which apparent agreements were concluded were used for this purpose.

"Thus, the cost of materials for the reconstruction of the station was inflated 2-3 times. They reported to the customer, inserting false data into official documents and acts of completed work," the report said.

The authorized person of "Ukrtransnafta" – the head of the structural division – was supposed to ensure professional control and proper verification of the reports provided by the contractor. However, she failed to do so. Now the prosecutor’s office has filed a lawsuit to recover property damage caused to the state enterprise in full from the accused.

Also, property of the defendants was seized in the amount of over 6 million UAH, namely two apartments in Kyiv and Khmelnytskyi, two cars, an auto pavilion, and a share in the authorized capital of a private enterprise in Rivne.
