Scandalous head of Khmelnytskyi MSEC Tetyana Krupa stated that "not all the money is hers"

The head of the regional center for medical and social expertise of the Khmelnytskyi region (MSEC) and the suspect in illegal enrichment, Tetyana Krupa, provided her first explanation regarding the large amount of cash found in her home since her arrest.

In court, during the consideration of the petition by the prosecutor of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office for the arrest of various properties, Tetyana Krupa rejected the investigation’s claims. According to her, not all the confiscated funds found in her residence belong directly to her family. Specifically, only the money declared in her financial statement belongs to her personally. The rest of the funds belong to other individuals, whose identities are known by her husband, Volodymyr Krupa, the former head of the regional audit office.

Meanwhile, in comments on the search protocol, her husband stated that the seized cash was under his control, and most of this money was given to him as investments for joint business projects.

Additionally, the suspect’s lawyer emphasized in court that there is no evidence that any part of the cash found in the apartment belongs to her client. Moreover, the defense suggests that the investigation failed to provide documents clearly indicating the source of these funds or their direct connection with the alleged illegal activities of the suspect.

Separately, Krupa’s lawyer mentioned an interesting detail. It turned out that most of the confiscated funds were found in rooms that the suspect allegedly did not use.

According to the pre-trial investigation materials, on October 3, 2024, law enforcement seized $106,100, €6,700, and 67,500 UAH in the living room of Tetyana Krupa’s apartment; in the wardrobe room, where a safe was located, $315,900 and €25,400; in the bedroom of the suspect’s husband, Volodymyr Krupa, $253,100, €70,000, and 143,000 UAH; and in another bedroom, $2.5 million, €37,800, and 702,000 UAH.

Another important nuance. Employees of the State Bureau of Investigation initially came to the Krupa family with searches, suspecting that they had embezzled funds from the state enterprise «Guaranteed Buyer», by selling electricity produced by solar power plants purportedly located on fictitious separate households.

«And during the first searches on October 3-4, 2024, the investigators of the State Bureau of Investigation learned about the possible illegal enrichment of Tetyana Krupa, a deputy of the Khmelnytskyi regional council VIII convocation. The pre-trial investigation authority has grounds to believe that these funds (referring to the cash found in the apartment of the head of the Khmelnytskyi region’s MSEC – «Glavcom») may have been obtained through improper means and as a result of acquiring assets by an individual authorized to perform state or local government functions, the value of which exceeds her legal income by more than 6,500 non-taxable minimums of citizen income,» the case materials state.
