Zelenskyy: Ukraine is ready to consider Macron’s idea of deploying European troops
The Ukrainian authorities are considering analyzing and working on the proposal of French President Emmanuel Macron regarding the deployment of part of the European troops in Ukraine to provide security guarantees.
On December 9, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced this in a comment to the agency Interfax-Ukraine.
“And, I will tell you frankly, we can consider and work on Emmanuel’s (Macron — ed.) position. Remember, he proposed that some part of the troops of a particular country be present in certain territories of Ukraine, which would guarantee security until Ukraine is in NATO,” he said.
However, President Zelenskyy clarified that to analyze President Macron’s proposal, official Kyiv must have a clear understanding of the possible timeline for Ukraine’s accession to the EU and NATO.
“But we must have a clear understanding of when Ukraine will be in the EU and when Ukraine will be in NATO,” he concluded.
