The "Oreshnik" missile, launched by Russian military forces at the Ukrainian city of Dnipro on November 21, is not the latest weapon that Russian President Vladimir Putin attempted to present it as. An examination of the debris revealed: parts were manufactured over seven years ago.

This is evidenced by the data from sources of the Ukrainian specialized publication Defence Express, as reported by Korrespondent.

On one of the Oreshnik’s parts, a serial number and the date of manufacture—April 12, 2017—were found. It was in that year that Russia was planning to begin the deployment of the strategic missile complex RS-26 Rubezh, which was to be a further development of Yars. However, in March 2018, the Ministry of Defence abandoned these plans.

Experts believe that the development of Oreshnik began over 7 years ago, at least in the 2010s, because 2017 is the year of manufacture for a specific part that was meant to be used in a ready project.

The publication also highlights that the discovered part has the index "EFIT 302811.002". Analysts connect this marking with the Scientific and Production Center for Automatics and Instrument Engineering (NPTSAP) named after Academician Pilyugin, which is part of Roscosmos and supplies control systems for the Zenit, Proton-M missiles and the Fregat upper stages.

It is likely that NPTSAP also equips the Oreshnik, which is assembled from components of the Yars ICBM.
