The AFU reported on the situation near Makarivka in the Donetsk region

Near the settlement of Makarivka in the Donetsk region, the Defence Forces are conducting stabilization measures and trying to regain lost positions. One of the main tasks currently facing the Ukrainian soldiers is to prevent semi-encirclement or encirclement of units performing combat missions in the Makarivka area.

This was stated by the spokesman of the Southern Defence Forces, Vladyslav Voloshyn, in an interview with Radio Svoboda. He described the situation in this section of the front as "difficult but not hopeless".

"Currently, the Ukrainian defence forces are conducting stabilization measures, trying to restore our positions, striving to prevent our forces from being surrounded. Therefore, active defence is ongoing, meaning a defensive operation is underway. Its consequences and results will be known later," Voloshyn commented on the situation in the Makarivka area.

According to the spokesman, the goal of the stabilization operation is to prevent encirclement or semi-encirclement of Defence Forces units performing combat missions in this section of the front, and to maintain logistical connections with them.

"The situation is difficult, but not hopeless. Our guys are holding on," emphasized Voloshyn.

Earlier this week, reports appeared in the media about the complete encirclement of Makarivka by occupying forces. These reports were refuted by the operational-strategic management of the "Khortytsia" forces.

Meanwhile, on December 24, DeepState stated that the enemy had occupied Makarivka, as well as Sukhi Yaly and Zelenivka, and advanced near Stari Terny, Novodarivka, Vovkove, Novovasylivka, Novoyelyzavetivka, Novoolenivka, Ukrainka, Zorya, in Storozhove, and Kurakhove.

"The Defence Forces broke out from Makarivka, as of 23.12 there are no encircled units in the village," stated the message published at 11:54 on December 24.
