KNU dismissed lecturer Vasylenko, who spoke about "hungry" Ukrainian women
Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv decided to dismiss Professor Mykyta Vasylenko from the Department of Print Media and Journalism History due to controversial statements regarding Ukrainian women.
This was reported by the university’s press service.
As noted by the university, the reason for the professor’s dismissal was "systematic violations," as his behavior contradicted not only the basic ethical norms of the university community but also harmed the institution’s reputation.
Recently, the Academic Council of the Institute of Journalism at KNU voted to dismiss Vasylenko, and the rector signed an order to prepare the necessary documents.
"Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv remains committed to the principles of academic ethics, respect for the rights of every community member, and the preservation of the University’s reputation," said the press service.
The incident is related to sexist statements when KNU Professor Vasylenko told a journalist that peacekeepers "raised on good European food" could attract "thousands of hungry Ukrainian women."
