At the border checkpoint with Poland, over 60 gold bars were found in a car
At the "Nyzhankovychi" checkpoint, the border-customs inspection group discovered 61 gold bars in one of the vehicles during the inspection.
This was reported by the Western Regional Directorate of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine – Western Border on Facebook.
The bars were hidden in the armrest of a "Toyota." The fineness of each is 999.
The total weight of the discovered items was approximately 1.5 kg, with an estimated value of 6 million hryvnias.
The 37-year-old female driver from Donetsk and the 67-year-old passenger of the vehicle could not explain the origin of the bars or provide the relevant supporting documents.
The border guards sent a report to the Bureau of Economic Security about the detection of signs of a crime under Article 201-3 (smuggling of goods) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
