Zelenskyy will not hold negotiations with Trump and Putin "as a trio"
Zelenskyy refused to participate in negotiations with Trump and Putin "all three at once."
He responded this way to a question from podcaster Friedman about the possibility of a meeting of the Ukrainian president in January with Trump and Putin to sign a peace agreement with security guarantees, but without NATO’s participation.
Zelenskyy noted that he initially wants to meet only with Trump and involve European countries in the negotiations.
"First, we agree with him on how we can stop the war, stop Putin. It’s important for us to sit with him… It’s important for us that Europe has a voice," the president said, adding that "Europe will support Ukraine’s position."
"I am confident that he (Trump - Ed.) along with Europe can provide strong security guarantees for Ukraine. And then a conversation with the Russians. Only this way, not just meeting all three at once," Zelenskyy added.
He also noted that "if Trump goes for a ceasefire without serious security guarantees for Ukraine, it will be a step towards Putin, because Putin’s idea is to quarrel me with Trump."
