Trump also noted that he "understands Russia’s position," which considers Ukraine’s entry into NATO unacceptable.

"The main problem for Russia is Ukraine as part of NATO. I understand their point of view. Many mistakes were made during negotiations on this issue. This war could lead to a bigger escalation. As far as I know, Ukraine and Russia almost reached an agreement, but Biden declared that Ukraine should become a NATO member. As a result, no agreement was achieved," the former US president said.
