About 30,000 Ukrainians have been given the status of missing since the beginning of 2024.

This was stated by Artur Dobroserdov, the Commissioner for Missing Persons under Special Circumstances, in an interview with Ukrainian media.

According to him, the current register of missing persons under special circumstances includes over 71,000 entries. This concerns both military and civilian individuals. Since the beginning of 2024 alone, around 30,000 people have received this status. Dobroserdov refused to provide data on military personnel, citing the confidentiality of this information.

«Every month we summarize the results regarding missing persons by region – based on the registration place of the missing person. As of the end of December 2024, Donetsk region is leading, followed by Dnipropetrovsk and Kharkiv regions», – explained the commissioner.

There are still 59,000 Ukrainians being searched for. 7,500 of them have been officially recognized by the International Committee of the Red Cross as being in captivity.
