On Sunday, January 19, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy appointed Brigadier General and former commander of Operational Command "South" Hennadiy Shapovalov to a new position. He will now coordinate military assistance for Ukraine in Wiesbaden.
This is reported by the Ministry of Defence. It is stated that his main task will be coordinating military cooperation with partners, particularly regarding the supply of military assistance to Ukraine.

The Ministry of Defence adds that General Shapovalov is a combat officer with extensive experience. He received his military education with honors in Ukraine, as well as in the USA, graduating from the United States Army War College, where senior officers of the Land Forces are trained. In 2022, he was awarded the rank of brigadier general.
"Throughout his service, he has gone through all the stages of a military career, from tank platoon commander to commander of the separate motorized infantry brigade named after Yakov Handzyuk.
