Scammers have devised a new scheme: they are deceiving Ukrainians with "payments from Trump"

Cybercriminals have intensified their efforts to deceive Ukrainians and are now "offering" them to receive 6500 hryvnias from the newly elected U.S. President Donald Trump. The politician himself would probably be surprised to hear this, as he has not allocated any money for Ukraine.

This was reported by the Center for Countering Disinformation (CCD) of the National Security and Defence Council of Ukraine. Fake announcements are being spread, particularly through various channels on the Telegram messenger.

Supposedly, even before the inauguration, Donald Trump announced a "payment for all Ukrainians," which could be received after January 20. To get the funds, one only needs to fill out a form in the social program and specify where the money should be sent.

"Another case of clickbait with fake news about an alleged ’payment to Ukrainians of 6500 UAH from Donald Trump’ is being recorded on the network. There are no official statements or programs for payments to Ukrainians from the newly elected U.S. President Donald Trump," the CPD noted.

The center explains that scammers invent such disinformation to increase reach and attract a new audience.
