The former commander of the 415th Separate Special Battalion, Colonel Illya Lapin, was arrested for 60 days

The Pechersk District Court of Kyiv has ordered the arrest of the former commander of the 415th Separate Rifle Battalion of the 23rd Separate Mechanized Brigade, Colonel Illya Lapin, for 60 days.

This was reported by the publication Graty.

Lapin will remain in custody until March 20, 2025. The State Bureau of Investigation suspects him of negligent performance of military duties.

"The investigation claims that Lapin’s actions allowed Russian troops to occupy part of the Lipetsk community in the Kharkiv district in the spring of 2024. His actions also led to losses in personnel and weaponry, and disrupted preparations for defending the state border in his area of responsibility. In addition to Colonel Lapin, similar suspicions were raised against the former commander of the Kharkiv operational-tactical group, General Yuriy Halushkin, and the former commander of the 125th Separate Territorial Defence Brigade, General Artur Horbenko.

Additionally, Lapin is accused of unauthorized abandonment of the battlefield. All three military officers face up to 10 years in prison," the publication writes.

The court session was held in a closed regime during the selection of the preventive measure. Lapin denies his guilt and declared his intention to appeal the decision.
