In the network, Podolyak was mistakenly attributed with a statement about the "fall of Russia in 6-8 months"
«Russia will collapse within 6-8 months», – such a quote attributed to the advisor to the head of the Office of the President, Mykhailo Podolyak, is widely spread by Ukrainian Telegram channels.
In reality, Podolyak did not claim this. On the contrary, he called the expectation that Russia’s internal socio-economic problems would affect Putin’s ability and desire to wage war an «infantilism.»
At the same time, he noted that if sanctions and strikes on Russian territory are intensified, “we may perceive this year very differently.” However, he did not speak about “the fall of Russia.”
"If there is a serious collapse in Russia’s economy and a significant intensification of panic in society, then this could have quite swift consequences. And then, look, in parallel, 6-8 months of economic nullification with 3-4 months of intensified strikes on Russian territory. And then we may perceive this year very differently," Podolyak added.
It is possible that Telegram channels intentionally used the phrase about «Russia’s collapse in 8 months» to tease Podolyak, who is often reminded of his unfulfilled predictions that in May 2023 he would be «drinking coffee on the Yalta embankment.»
