After verification, some Ukrainians will have to return the "Zelenskyy thousand," – Shmyhal

Citizens who remain in Ukraine can receive payments of 1,000 UAH under the "Winter eSupport" program. If assistance was arranged by a person abroad, the money will have to be returned to the state. 

This was stated by Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal.

Shmyhal explained that the government plans to conduct an audit to find out who has used the state assistance.

"There may not be many people arranging ’eSupport’ from abroad. But we will check everything, and such people, as has been the case previously, will return the funds. Therefore, we recommend not to abuse these resources," emphasized the Prime Minister. 

The head of the government stressed that when applying for the payment, a person automatically confirms their stay in Ukraine. At the same time, the state tries to control this process.

"Winter eSupport" — what this program is 

It was initiated by the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, who proposed this as a way to support Ukrainians during the difficult winter period. A one-time payment of 1,000 UAH is provided to citizens living in Ukraine. The payment can be arranged until the end of February 2025 and used until the end of this year.

The payment is intended not only for adults but also for children. One of the parents can order the payment to their account for each of their children through "Diya". 

Additionally, some Ukrainians may receive almost 11,000 UAH financial assistance in February. The funds will be paid by one of the charitable organizations to support citizens who find themselves in difficult situations due to Russia’s full-scale invasion.
