Three rapists of a minor in Zakarpattia were sentenced to 6 years each

Three residents of Zakarpattia received 6 years in the high-profile 2021 case of the gang rape of a minor in the Mukachevo district, the Office of the Prosecutor General officially reports.

In 2023, the court of first instance issued a too lenient decision. The group of rapists was then sentenced to 5 years of imprisonment with a probation period of 2 years (effectively a suspended sentence).

Prosecutors and lawyers appealed this decision in the appellate court, and today, nearly 3.5 years later, the court put an end to this high-profile case - 6 years of imprisonment and compensation for moral damages to the victim in the amount of 300,000 UAH (an additional 150,000 UAH had been compensated earlier).
