Zelenskyy, after the US-Russia negotiations, outlined three principles of a just peace
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy outlined three key principles of a just peace.
As Volodymyr Zelenskyy noted during his visit to Turkey, neither side will gain an advantage on the battlefield, so it is necessary to turn to diplomacy, which should lead to a just peace.
According to him, first and foremost, there must be an exchange of prisoners.
Secondly, Ukraine must receive reliable security guarantees. Zelenskyy reiterated that this could be NATO membership, but the USA and some European countries do not support this. Therefore, a strong Ukrainian army and the presence of a foreign contingent in Ukraine remain.
In addition, the president emphasized that Ukraine will not recognize the territories occupied by the Russian Federation legally.
The president recalled the ultimatum that Putin set at the beginning of the full-scale war: reduction of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, recognition of the so-called territories of Ukraine as Russian territory, and the establishment of Kremlin-controlled power.
- If we did not agree to this at the most difficult moment, where is the belief that we will accept it now? — stated Zelenskyy.
The USA and Russia allegedly proposed a three-stage peace plan during negotiations in Riyadh, Fox News reported.
The plan includes a ceasefire, elections in Ukraine, and the signing of a final agreement, the publication writes, citing its sources, adding that Washington and Russia consider holding new elections in Ukraine a key condition for the success of the settlement process.
