The occupiers advanced 500-700 meters in the Sumy region: the situation is tense, fighting continues
Russian occupiers in the Sumy region penetrated 500-700 meters from the Ukrainian border between the villages of Zhuravka and Basivka.
This was reported by Suspilne citing a Ukrainian soldier who is defending in Russia’s Kursk region.
The soldier reported that the enemy’s advance was recorded as of the evening of March 8. Battles are ongoing in Russia’s Kursk region.
"The road Yunakivka-Sudzha (which supplies the staging area of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in Russia’s Kursk region) is under enemy control. Russian FPV drones fly by every five minutes. They operate on new frequencies. Our artillery and drones with payloads are only operating at 20% of their capability. There is no possibility to deliver drones, ammunition," he said.
The soldier added that at night around five Russian UAV crews operate in the sky and conduct "free hunting." Fiber-optic drones have already destroyed three bridges, reports Suspilne.
Chief Sergeant of the 47th Separate Mechanized Brigade Magura Oleh Chaus commented on the situation in the Kursk region during the United News telethon and stated that the occupiers are trying to find weak spots in the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ defense and encircle the Defence Forces. The enemy has an advantage in the number of drones and personnel, as well as the quality of communication.
"We are now subjected to attacks by assault groups every time. They approach from the north side, try from the northwest side, from the southwest side... The advantage of enemy drones in this area is greater. Communication that can provide quality images for artillery and troop management is not at a very high level... The situation is difficult, we have it under control," he said.
Chaus added that access to the Sudzha area (about 5 km) is completely controlled by Russian FPV drones. In 15 minutes, seven to eight enemy drones can be seen in the sky.
