In Toretsk, fighting has intensified: the Russians have deployed additional forces and increased artillery shelling

Intense fighting continues in the city of Toretsk in Donetsk region. Russian occupiers have increased the frequency of artillery shelling and assaults, deploying additional forces to the settlement from the Kurakhiv and Pokrovsk directions.

The situation on this section of the front was described by the spokesperson of the operational-tactical group "Luhansk," Dmytro Zaporozhets. In a comment during a telethon, he reported that capturing Toretsk is currently one of the main objectives for the aggressor in eastern Ukraine.

The serviceman noted that the enemy "is pressing actively, especially because the 150th motorized rifle division and some units redeployed from the Kurakhove and Pokrovsk directions have been involved in this area."

"The activity of assault operations has increased. One could say that this is the average daily number of assaults for the past week," Zaporozhets noted.

Due to the redeployment of Russian invaders, the number of enemy artillery strikes has also increased. If in February the number of artillery strikes ranged from 30 to 80, now the invaders regularly carry out over 100 strikes.

The tactics of small assault groups have also changed. "The number of people in the assault has increased. Previously, it was two to three or four servicemen, and for example, this week - from two to ten. This is already a full-fledged detachment that can advance on a particular position. Moreover, motorcycles are now being used to reach the central part of the city. They don’t always manage to leave these motorcycles intact, but nonetheless, they are used for the transportation of personnel," Zaporozhets added.

Usually, the enemy tries to start assault actions from 4-5 in the morning, ending them during the day.

"The aviation component has increased since the beginning of January and continues to grow. Over the past day [March 12], 25 airstrikes and 31 GABs were carried out on settlements in our area of responsibility. Konstantynivka is currently suffering the most," the spokesperson of OTG "Luhansk" said.
