The General Staff commented on the advancement of Russian troops deeper into the Sumy region

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine assures that the situation on the border of the Sumy region with the Kursk region of the Russian Federation is under the control of Ukraine’s Defence Forces.

This was reported in a statement by the press service of the General Staff on the evening of March 18.

"The information circulating on social networks regarding the penetration of Russian units into the territory of Sumy is not true," – stated the General Staff.

It is noted that the Russian occupiers are trying to enter some settlements of the Ukrainian border area in small groups. At the same time, the enemy is rapidly neutralized by fire means thanks to the coordinated actions and a pre-established defence system, as assured by the General Staff.

"Our defenders are successfully stopping all attempts by the invaders to secure a foothold in the territory of Sumy. The enemy suffers significant losses in manpower," – the statement reads.

The Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine is taking all necessary measures to reinforce our group of troops with technical means and reserves.

The Ukrainian soldiers also continue to hold territories in the Kursk region.

It is noted that the enemy does not cease to carry out information and psychological pressure by spreading its propaganda narratives with the aim of discrediting the military command and spreading panic and despair among the Ukrainian public.
