The Kyiv City Council has passed a decision that effectively subjects the Kyiv City Military Administration (KCMA) to the city mayor, Vitaliy Klychko.

According to the new rules, the implementation of KCMA’s powers is now only possible after the mayor’s signature.

Alina Mykhailova, a deputy from "Holos", stated that this decision limits the administration’s powers, as it won’t be able to issue orders without Klychko’s consent. Meanwhile, the mayor himself denies such accusations, explaining that the changes are necessary for "resolving urgent economic issues and ensuring the capital’s functioning".

The head of KCMA, Tymur Tkachenko, criticized the Kyiv City Council’s decision, stating that it effectively deprives the military administration of the right to make decisions: "Vitaliy Volodymyrovych, the removal of the military administration head’s powers during martial law can only be done by the one who appointed him there. Not by the one who forgot that Kyiv is not a private company," Tkachenko said.
