Norway allocates over 400 million euros for artillery ammunition for Ukraine
Norway allocates 4 billion Norwegian kroner to the Czech initiative for the purchase of artillery ammunition for Ukraine, as well as an additional billion for the same purposes through the mechanisms of the European Peace Facility, totaling over 400 million euros.
The relevant statement was published by the Norwegian government’s press service.
Norway is providing 4 billion kroner – approximately 332 million euros – for the Czech initiative to procure artillery shells for Ukraine from around the world. Norway allocated funds for the Czech initiative also in 2024.
Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre noted that this is one of the key needs for the Ukrainian army, which is why Norway is making its contribution.
An additional 1 billion kroner will be allocated for the European Peace Facility, through which the EU also funds military assistance for Ukraine – the contribution will also be used for artillery ammunition.
"Europe must take more responsibility for supporting Ukraine in its fight for freedom. Our contributions to the European Peace Facility and our joint support for the Czech initiative highlight that Europe supports Ukraine," said Støre.
Previously, Norway supported the purchase of ammunition for Ukraine from Norwegian manufacturers in cooperation with other Nordic countries, and also supplied shells from its own stockpiles and shared technologies so that shells could be produced in Ukraine under a license.
