Experts predict a decrease in diesel fuel prices in Ukraine

In Ukraine, the cost of diesel fuel may sharply decrease. This conclusion is based on an analysis of the fuel market conducted by the publication enkorr.

According to enkorr, yesterday, on April 7, 2025, futures (a contract for the sale of an asset at a certain price with deferred payment) for gas oil on the London exchange fell to 599 dollars per ton. This is the lowest level since November 2021. Experts from enkorr suggest that if this price becomes a reality, the wholesale price of diesel fuel will decrease to 40 UAH per liter or even lower.

The publication enkorr notes that in the spring of 2025, there is a significant drop in diesel fuel prices on the wholesale market. This trend can be explained by several factors, such as the strengthening of the hryvnia. For instance, in just two days, the hryvnia strengthened by 0.19 UAH per dollar – to 41.16 UAH per dollar.

If the wholesale price of diesel fuel reaches 40 UAH per liter, it will undoubtedly affect the retail fuel market. Ukrainian gas stations will, in such a case, also respond by reducing prices.

Currently, in Ukraine, diesel fuel costs an average of 54.48 UAH per liter. The most expensive places to refuel a diesel vehicle are in the Donetsk and Chernihiv regions, where diesel fuel costs an average of 56.86 UAH per liter and 56.37 UAH per liter, respectively. The cheapest places to refuel a diesel vehicle are in the Zakarpattia and Dnipropetrovsk regions, where diesel costs an average of 52.96 and 53.46 UAH per liter, respectively.

Some gas station networks specializing in low prices sell diesel fuel for less than 50 UAH per liter. For example, at RLS gas stations, diesel costs 48.50 UAH per liter.
