At "Yahodyn," a truck driver was detained for hiding a draft dodger in the truck’s sleeping compartment

At the "Yahodyn" checkpoint in Volyn, a 43-year-old truck driver from the Chernihiv region was detained, in whose truck a conscript was found.

This was reported on April 18 by the Western Administration of the State Border Guard Service.

The truck driver reported at the border with Poland that he was the only one in the vehicle. However, during the inspection of the cabin, in the upper sleeping compartment covered with personal belongings, a 32-year-old man was found.

According to the border guards, the driver and passenger had agreed on the illegal crossing of the border before the trip.

A protocol was drawn up against the conscript hiding in the truck under Article 204-1 of the Administrative Code (Illegal crossing or attempted illegal crossing of the state border of Ukraine).

The driver was notified of suspicion under Part 1 of Article 332 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. This concerns the organization of illegal transportation of persons across the border. The court chose a preventive measure for the man in the form of detention for 60 days with the possibility of posting a bail of 908 thousand hryvnias.
