A court in the Netherlands has granted permission for the deportation of 1,700 refugees from Ukraine
According to Deutsche Welle, such a decision was made by the Council of State in The Hague.
It concerns about 1,700 citizens of third countries who were living in Ukraine on February 24, 2022, and left due to the war. Among them are many citizens of Algeria, Turkey, and Pakistan who were working or studying in Ukraine.
In 2024, the State Council of the Netherlands allowed the withdrawal of their refugee status and temporary state protection. However, legal appeals were filed, and the decision had to be approved by the European Court in Luxembourg. Now this verdict has been finally confirmed.
Currently, there are about 118,000 Ukrainian refugees in the Netherlands.
