For use in the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Ukrainian drone "Hromylo Optic" with fiber-optic technology has been approved
The Ministry of Defence of Ukraine has codified and approved for use in the units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine the "Hromylo Optic" unmanned aerial system, manufactured in Ukraine, equipped with a fiber-optic control type.
This was reported by the Ministry of Defence with reference to the Main Directorate for Armament and Military Equipment Lifecycle Support.
"Hromylo" drones of various modifications have been successfully completing missions in the units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine for a significant period and have destroyed a considerable amount of Russian equipment.
In response to military requests, the manufacturer produced even larger "Hromylo" – with frame sizes 10 inches bigger.
As noted by the Ministry of Defence, such drone models can now carry a charge with explosive power sufficient to defeat a tank with enhanced protection and well-protected firing positions.
These drones are equipped with a fiber-optic control type, equipped with video systems (optional) with day, twilight, or night (thermal) cameras, ensuring precise and reliable identification of targets at any time of the day.
"Hromylo Optic" drones are already being used by military units. There is confirmed destruction of tanks, armored personnel carriers, and enemy firing positions.
The Ministry of Defence noted that "Hromylo Optic" is a modern tool of war, whose main advantages are significant range and high effectiveness in impact.
According to Deputy Minister of Defence Valeriy Churkin, since early 2025, the Ministry of Defence has codified and approved approximately 40 samples of unmanned aerial systems with a fiber-optic control channel, including about a dozen and a half in April.
"Our manufacturers are quickly responding to front-line challenges. The advantage goes to those who implement innovative solutions more rapidly. We cannot fall into the trap of illusions, underestimating the technical capabilities of the enemy, as it constantly develops its technology. We must do it faster," Churkin noted.
