At the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, it was reported how many military personnel Russia has lost since the beginning of the Kursk Operation
Since the beginning of the Kursk operation by the Defence Forces, in the operational zone of the "Kursk" troops grouping, Russia has lost 62,400 personnel, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
"Since the beginning of the Kursk operation by the Defence Forces of Ukraine, from August 6, 2024, the losses of the Russian army in the operational zone of the "Kursk" troops grouping are as follows: personnel – 62.4 thousand people, of which irrecoverable – 25.2 thousand, sanitary – 36.2 thousand," the General Staff reported.
The Armed Forces of Ukraine specified that an additional 983 servicemen of the Russian army were taken prisoner, through which exchanges took place, "during which hundreds of Ukrainian soldiers were returned home from Russian captivity."
"The total losses of the DPRK army in the Kursk direction amount to over four and a half thousand killed and wounded," added the General Staff.
The Russian authorities have not commented on this data from the General Staff. The editorial board of Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty cannot verify this information from independent sources.
In August 2024, Ukrainian military established control over part of the territory in the Kursk region of Russia.
