The next few days will be decisive for peace in Ukraine, - U.S. Department of State
The US State Department has announced that the coming days could be decisive for peace in Ukraine. Washington is awaiting actions from the Russian leader Vladimir Putin.
This information was announced by U.S. State Department spokeswoman Tammy Bruce, according to a broadcast on News Nation channel.
Washington noted that the coming days could become critical for achieving peace in Ukraine.
Bruce emphasized that the U.S. expects from Russia not statements but real actions - specifically, an immediate ceasefire.
She commented on the proposal by Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha, who stated that Kyiv is ready to support the ceasefire initiative right now, not waiting for May 9.
"If these are genuinely humanitarian commitments, then why wait 10 days? And it’s not about what the U.S. President and Secretary of State (Donald Trump and Marco Rubio - ed.) are asking for, but about needing real actions that will show that these parties, especially Putin, are serious about stopping the bloodshed," Bruce said.
The State Department emphasized that now is not the time for symbolic statements, but the moment of truth for assessing the real intentions of the Kremlin.
The U.S. hopes that Moscow will demonstrate a willingness for peace not in words but in actions.
