Trump on peace in Ukraine: "Okay, keep being stupid"

US President Donald Trump commented on the prospects for peace in Ukraine, stating that the parties involved in the conflict have "tremendous hatred" for each other.

He made this statement in an interview with American media, avoiding a direct indication of which side he considers closer to a peaceful resolution.

"We are closer to this on one side, and maybe not so close on the other. I would not want to say whom we are closer with," Trump said.

He also added that the situation remains tense and can only move from a deadlock when both parties are ready to abandon an emotional approach.

"There will come a moment when I will say: ’Okay, keep going, keep being stupid’... It’s about tremendous hatred between these two people," the politician emphasized.
