The Ministry of Internal Affairs will create a DNA database of relatives of missing children
A nationwide campaign has begun in Ukraine to create a unified DNA database of relatives of missing children.
This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs on Monday, May 5.
The purpose of this database is to return Ukrainian children who have been deported or illegally taken out of temporarily occupied territories.
“This is important because even when a child receives new documents and their personal data is changed, genetic information remains the only unchangeable basis for establishing family connections and true identity,” the ministry explained.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs emphasized that this tool is capable of working not only today but also in the future. Every child has the right to return home and restore their identity.
“If you are a blood relative of a missing child, provide a DNA sample. This will help bring them back to Ukraine,” the law enforcement urged.
You can find a detailed action algorithm and contacts for regional support centers on the Ministry of Internal Affairs website.
