The wife of the director-general of the state enterprise declared a Volvo for $600

The CEO of the state enterprise “Ukrainian Special Systems” Mykhailo Dmytrychenko registers valuable property in the name of his wife Olena Zelenska, who officially has no sources of income but owns real estate worth millions of hryvnias and a luxury car fleet.

In particular, Zelenska is the owner of several apartments and parking spaces in the capital. She also owns half of a non-residential premises in Kyiv, with the other part registered to a relative — presumably her brother Andriy Zelenskyy. Dmytrychenko himself declared only two land plots in the Mykolaiv region.

The most attention-grabbing is Zelenska’s latest purchase — a premium Volvo XC40 2020 SUV, which she officially acquired for only 26 thousand hryvnias (approximately 600 dollars). In the used car market, such models start at 1.1 million hryvnias. The official’s wife also owns a BMW X1 2019, which she bought in 2021 for over a million hryvnias.

Anti-corruption experts point to possible signs of asset concealment by the official and schemes to undervalue property during registration.
