British Intelligence: Russia advanced only 6 km² per day in April
The speed of Russia’s advance on Ukrainian territory in April 2025 remains slow compared to the previous year.
This is reported in a review by the UK Ministry of Defence.
According to intelligence data, in April, Russian Ground Forces likely captured about 200 square kilometers of Ukrainian territory, which averages 6 square kilometers per day. This is only a slight increase compared to March, when Russia advanced by 150 km² - the lowest figure since June 2024.
British analysts noted that Russian forces made tactical gains near Pokrovsk, yet significant advancement in this direction, despite its importance to Russia, has not been achieved since the end of 2024.
It is separately noted that in the context of Russia’s May 9 celebrations, Ukrainian forces continue limited combat operations on the territory of Russia’s Kursk region - this is the first instance since World War II where foreign troops are operating within Russia.
