The witness confirmed the transfer of a bribe to MP Marchenko’s assistant: HACC completed the interrogation

The Anti-Corruption Court of Ukraine has completed the interrogation of a witness in the case of the accused Member of Parliament Lyudmyla Marchenko. The witness confirmed the fact of receiving a bribe.

This was reported by Transparency International Ukraine.

According to the investigation’s version, MP Lyudmyla Marchenko, along with her assistant, promised, in exchange for a bribe, to enter a draft-age man into the "Shlyakh" system, which would allow him to cross the border. The witness confirmed that he handed over the bribe to Marchenko’s assistant, Anastasia Kolesnyk, in two payments of $3,000 each.

Let us recall that Marchenko previously explained that she threw the money over the fence because she was in a state of shock and had difficulty understanding what was happening. She claimed that she had certain health issues and was taking medication that might have affected her behavior in a stressful situation.
