Discussed the need to increase pressure on Russia: Zelenskyy met with Swiss President Keller-Sutter
On Saturday, May 17, in Rome, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with the President of Switzerland, Karin Keller-Sutter. During their conversation, the leaders discussed the continuation of support for Ukraine, the necessity of increasing pressure on Russia, and humanitarian initiatives.
The presidential press service reported this.
Zelenskyy first thanked Switzerland for its help, particularly for humanitarian support and shelters for Ukrainian schools.
"We also thank you for the humanitarian support from your government. Especially for what is really important for us, – for the shelters for our schools, for our children. Thank you for this assistance," the president stated.
The parties discussed the necessity of a ceasefire, the continuation of support for Ukraine, increasing pressure on Russia, humanitarian demining, implementation of school meal projects in Ukrainian schools, and food security.
Additionally, Zelenskyy informed Keller-Sutter about the negotiations in Istanbul. The president emphasized the importance of coordination with the United States, maintaining unity, and collective pressure on Russia to take the first step towards ending the war – a complete and unconditional ceasefire.
It was noted that special attention was given to the continuation of aid to Ukraine, including financing the participation of Swiss companies in the reconstruction.
